David gained an international reputation for his
multi-disciplinary researches in the environmental and plant
sciences and in 1999 was included in the International
Biography "2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century",
published by The International Biographical Centre,
Cambridge.
He is past
President of the Australian Institute of Agricultural
Science and Technology (south east Queensland Zone).
His interests and expertise extend into the social sciences
and he was a foundation member of Headway Queensland Inc.
(now the Brain Injury Association of Queensland), and later
President of Headway and a member of the Management
Committee of the Head Injury Council of Australia . He
has been a visiting lecturer to the School of Biological
Sciences, University of Sussex, the Physiotherapy and Botany
Departments at the University of Queensland and the Schools
of Australian Environmental Studies and Science at Griffith
University and Southern Cross University.
David has written five books and
published over 100 scientific papers, developing an
extensive network with leading academic and government
research scientists in the areas of environmental,
agricultural and biological sciences. He is an
expert on issues relating to the sustainable re-use and
disposal of wastewater and was a member of the Queensland
Wastewater Reuse Strategy Technical Advisory Group (TAG).
This acknowledgement of his expertise is based on his
extensive publications in the plant sciences and more
recently on studies of wastewater re-use in south-eastern
Queensland. David was a member of the Technical Group
of the Expert Working Group of Water Supplies in the
Queensland Department of Health. David
was involved with the development of an innovative tractor
linkage which won commendation in the
BHP awards in 1989 and assisted with the
development of a new method for reducing soil erosion on
farm, mine and urban access tracks. |
